Some marketing guy once told me that you should never say “welcome to my website”, which makes it a bit tricky to welcome people to your website, so here we are. Good start.

The same marketing guy also told me that you should always talk about your visitor on your website, and not about yourself – again, awkward if you are building a personal blog. If I’m honest, I’m doing this as much, or more, for myself as for anyone else.

I have so much swirling around in my head, and so many things that I do half-heartedly despite being really quite interested in them, that I thought this medium might provide some structure. If you find any of it interesting or useful in any way, then I guess that’s a bonus.

There’s quite a bit of historical stuff here – family history especially. I’ve got a lot of information on paper and in spreadsheets which desperately needs sorting out, so that’s an ongoing task.

I might also bang on about the music I like (which is almost everything, and I have a lot of vinyl), and the books I read, or want to read. I’m on the wireless occasionally, so may share soundbites, or maybe even some podcasts if I can get around to it.

Basically, whatever I do it may end up here, so I suppose that’s the nature of a personal blog. There is absolutely no reason why it would interest anyone, but it’s here anyway …
